Public Housing Project

The Iskandar Malaysia Public Housing Project at Perumahan Lima Kedai is developed by Iskandariah Regional Development Authority (IRDA). Costing RM200 million, the project consists of 1,500 residential units and 12 units of shophouses. Two types of housing with a built up area of 900 and 1200 square feet are targeted at new young families to live more comfortably in the Iskandariah development region. The price for each unit is more expensive than the People Housing Project (PPR) because it is equipped with fittings and more comfortable, on par with condominium housing projects developed by private sector. The construction cost is more expensive because it has a larger floor area as compared to the PPR housing unit.

The housing project uses the IBS (Industrialised Building System) technology which is a prefabricated concept using quality material. The IRDA has set several conditions for buyers to own the houses. Among them, the buyer must be a Malaysian citizen aged 18 years and above who does not have any properties in Iskandariah Malaysia. The applicant must be married with a monthly income of less than RM3,000. In addition, they cannot have any state public housing. (Last Update: 30 September 2011 – By: Zanariah Abdullah)
